Peninsular Malaysia Forest Patch Connectivity Project
This interactive map shows over 10,000 forest patches extracted from the Kuantan region in Malaysia. Each patch is classified into one of several tiers using a Composite Habitat Suitability Index (CHSI), which combines key ecological attributes including total area, core area, contiguity, perimeter–area ratio, and Euclidean nearest-neighbour distance. The index standardises these metrics based on the landscape’s own statistical distribution and applies weighted scoring to prioritise interior habitat stability and connectivity. Patches are then grouped into six tiers, ranging from large core habitats to highly isolated micro patches. Click on the individual patches to view their details.
